Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev first reached the world number one ranking in 2022 becoming the first man outside of the Big Four to hold the top ranking since Andy Roddick in February 2004. Medvedev won his first slam title at the US Open in 2021 ending Novak Djokovic's quest for a "Calendar" 'Slam.
